Why cool?

Cooling is one of the crucial points to keep on eye on in our 4x4s - even more so as they get older and much more than in an ordinary car. Even when you are in the middle of a desert pushing your 4x4 through its paces, your engine must remain at a constant temperature to function correctly and preserve the cylinder head.

The cooling fan is the only component that can keep the coolant temperature under control when your 4x4 is stationary or driving at low speed (when the airflow through the radiator is insufficient).

Technical details

Many of our 4x4s that have longitudinal engines feature a cooling fan coupled to a viscous clutch mounted on the water pump pulley and driven by the engine. Although this system proves to be reliable, it is however not necessarily energy-efficient.

More modern 4x4s, such as small SUVs equipped with transversal motors, feature electric fans.

And when making a prototype, this is the kind of fan that you will need.

To avoid securing the universal electric fan directly to the radiator try to use the original cowl as a support.

Benefits:

- Weight gain

- Less consumption

- Consistant cooling

Why fit an electric cooling fan?

You may want to fit a new electric fan to do way with the viscous clutch system or simply to replace a broken electric fan.
