Slow Travel - Africa in a Defender!
Olivia and Charlie have been travelling across Africa in their Defender since September 2021, taking their time with no return date
The project was born during the confinement when the need for freedom was so strongly felt that they set about entirely fitting out Joe, their Defender 110.
Their aim is to "take our time on the road to discover as many things as possible and meet as many people as possible along the way. It's a project of a lifetime and not planning too much in advance and just letting it happen makes the adventure even more beautiful and exciting!"

The two of them are heading back to France to fit out the vehicle and set off again on the African roads for new adventures!

Itinerary
Their itinerary has had to adapt as events and the current crisis have unfolded.
Their journey started on the west coast of Africa, heading towards South Africa.
Their goal is to reach Egypt!
Let's meet them!
Olivia is 27 years old and she's from Montpellier in the south of France. Passionate about horses she started photographing them at the age of 15 to immortalise their beauty. When she was 18 she set off on her first solo backpacking trip in Ireland! She studied journalism while continuing to work and travel.
Charlie is 28 years old and is a web editor specialising in cosmetics. After her first experience as an employee in a big cosmetic group, she decided to start her own business so she could work and travel.

Their vehicle
Their Land Rover Defender 110 is called JOE, it has a 1998 300 TDI engine and they completely fitted it out themselves. Olivia and Charlie have redone all the electrical installation, including solar panels, installed the shower, and redone the interior to make it a real home on wheels, comfortable and welcoming!
