The 4x4 Dream Continues!
We catch up with Jasper and Malin aboard Landy, their Defender 110, en route to the Balkans!
This young Swedish-Dutch couple (Malin is Swedish and Jasper is Dutch) has been traveling for several years, and it was during a trip to New Zealand in 2016 that they realized life in the great outdoors was their dream. Since then, they have been constantly traveling the world's roads in various vehicles.
And so, it was only natural for them to embark on a new project: living on the road in their very own fully-equipped 4x4 vehicle. They took a big leap forward, quit their jobs, and started living their dream.
To do this, they purchased an old, rusty Land Rover Defender 110 and spent the next six months transforming it into a home on wheels, equipping it with everything they needed to explore Europe.
After the far north, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece, it's now time for the Balkans!
As slow travel enthusiasts, we'll follow them on this new journey starting in January 2023!

After spending Christmas in Italy travelling from Sardinia to the Dolomites, Jasper and Malin are now in Greece. They are planning to stay for a while and explore this wonderful country!

Let's meet them !
- Jasper is 30 years old and comes from the Netherlands. He has a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. After finishing his studies and working in this field, he discovered a passion for nature and photography. He is a self-taught photographer and even worked as a real estate photographer for a while.
- Malin is also 30. She moved from Sweden to the Netherlands when she was very young and lived in the same small town as Jasper. She has a BAC in communication and worked as a producer in an advertising agency for two and a half years. After a 6 month trip around the world, she then started dreaming of travelling in a 4x4.
Their vehicle
In November 2018, they bought this 1984 Land Rover Defender 110 and started to convert it into their home.
It's a right-hand drive fitted with a more modern and powerful Defender 200Tdi engine. It was in pretty bad shape, with lots of rust problems on the body and chassis. The engine and transmission were still in reasonable condition and only required extensive maintenance.
The desire to make their dream come true led Jasper and Malin to become what they were not before: Land Rover experts in, painting, building cabinets & installing electrical systems.
The whole building process had its ups and downs, but they couldn't be happier with the end result!
