4x4 transmission systems  do vary according to makes and models but a basic drive train commonly features components such as gearbox, clutch, transfer case, axles, differentials, wheel hubs & swivels, wheel bearings. Heavy duty or reinforced parts are also available as well as differential lockers. 

It is important to keep your 4x4 transmission in good condition and to inspect and service regularly, respecting the intervals indicated by the manufacturer. Routine maintenance includes changing gearbox, transfer case and axle oils as well as greasing the propeller shafts. Don’t forget, a simple oil leak could mean a fail for your 4x4 at your next vehicle inspection!
