Fitting a snorkel to a Nissan Patrol Y61 3L

Article published in partnership with Patrol-GR.net

The first step is to remove the air box. Remove all the surrounding pipes to improve access so that all that remains is the bottom section of the air box.

Remove the indicator then unbolt the air box (attached within wheel arch)

Remove the end that goes into the wing and the whole air box

Continue by removing the inner mud guard from within the wing

You'll now find the old air intake tube and a shaped piece of foam. Remove both the metal tube and the foam.

Cut out the wing ready for the snorkel

Place this part in the wing

Refit the lower secion of the air box - attaching it from within the wing

Seal to ensure that it's watertight

Seal up the small hole at the bottom of the air box

The snorkel is attached at 3 points up top and 3 from within the wing

Next fit the tube that connects the snorkel to the air box

Refit the indicator

Attach the snorkel head

Job done!
