This type of  LED light is also called a V16 emergency light.

Emergency light V16: is it the end of the warning triangle?

An emergency stop caused by a mechanical problem is a very common event that can happen to any of us. It has long been compulsory to wear a high visibility reflective vest, use warning triangles, and the vehicle's hazard lights. However, technology has advanced and the V16 emergency lights will soon become standard in our vehicles.

It’s likely that the V16 emergency lights will coexist with the classic warning triangles for a few years until they become mandatory. In Spain, the V16 will be obligatory as of  January the  1st, 2026.

What is a V16 emergency light?

The V16 attaches to the roof of the vehicle with a magnet and emits a flash light visible from at least 1 km away. It warns other vehicles of your position to avoid a collision and to facilitate the arrival of help.

The V16 light rotates 360 degrees to be visible from anywhere, its yellow bulb has at least 30 minutes of flashing time.

How does a V16 emergency light work?

As soon as your vehicle is stationary whether it’s because of a breakdown or an accident, take the V16 emergency light, which is best kept in the glove box for quick access, and place it on the roof. It’s as easy as that!
