Crossing the world, a way of life

You learn to live while travelling, this could be Jon, Nina and their daughter Biankas motto. For the family travelling has become a real necessity.

In 2014 they explored Asia in their Toyota Land Cruiser pick-up, fitted with a roof tent. This time their project is to go further and for longer.

In answer to:

Isn't the world  too dangerous?

They reply: Not as dangerous as you would have imagined.

and to:

Isn't your daughter  too young?

She hasnt given up her studies. Shell learn more on this journey than a lifetime spent at school.

Theyre leaving for three years from June 2017, to travel through Asia, Africa and America.

We are delighted to follow them, even if it is from a distance!

December 2018

Back home

The family is back in Spain for the holidays and to prepare the second part of their trip, which will take them to Africa!

Don't worry they'll soon be back on road !

November - Moldova

After returning briefly to Turkey, the family is now in Moldova. A small country full of charm, and famous for its monasteries.

Short visit to Transnistria (or the  Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic), a state that does not officially exist (not recognized by the United Nations), but which is there, the proof!

October - Armenia & Turkey

September - Azerbaijan

End of August & September - Uzbekistan

Our intrepid travellers are back in Uzbekistan. Having not had enough time to visit the country the first time round in June they're now catching up for lost time!

August - Kazakhstan

July - They're in Mongolia!

June - Uzbekistan & Russia (Siberia)

May - Pamir Highway!

April - Kyrgyzstan

March - Iran and Turkmenistan

In mid-March, the family left Iran, which they loved, to enter Turkmenistan.

It is generally very difficult to obtain a visa to visit this country, and our travellers have only been allowed to cross it without deviating from their route and for 5 days, the time it takes to arrive in Kazakhstan.

The many controls included cheeking all their photos

2018

January - February - Still in Iran

In January, the family are on the island of Queshm (Strait of Hormuz), they intend to stay in Iran at least until early spring. They are delighted by the welcome from the locals and the legendary Iranian hospitality.

December - Iran

After some setbacks, changes to the route and delays, they are finally on their way!

From Romania, they went to Bulgaria to apply for a visa for Pakistan, which was refused at the last moment because they are travelling with a child, and wanted to cross the Baluchistan region (an uncertain place at the moment ).

They changed their plans and are currently in Turkey where they intend to stay until the end of November. They will then move on to Iran.

Let's meet them!

The Spanish family is made up of Jon, Nina and their nine year daughter, Bianka.

They began travelling in 2014 when they explored Asia for 14 months.

For them, the best way to discover the world is on the road, and when you can do it with your family its even better!

Bianka is writing a book about her experiences.

Their vehicle

They chose a Toyota Land Cruiser pickup HZJ75 from 1996, for its reliability and the simplicity of the engine, easy to repair in any workshop.

The back of the Toyota has been fitted to provide a practical living area. There’s a light foldable roof tent, which allows them to drive anywhere from the mountains to the deserts, while saving on hotels and restaurants costs.

Route already covered

We wish them a good journey and look forward to hearing about their adventures!
