April - Homecoming back in France! End of the trip as 4.

The 1st of April is a symbolic date for the family it marks the end of their great tour.

Nomads Road is back in France! This doesn't mean it's the end of their journey, it's just the next stage.

The family explains that:

"This day is the same day that we left the country in 2006 to travel the planet and we haven't been back in 13 years.

The whole family is happy to finally be back in their native country after the last few difficult months in West Africa.

(...) 386,689 kilometres and (...) 49 countries visited.

Our return to France does not mark the end of this adventure the two of us will be leaving again to complete our odyssey that will take us to Ushuaia, which we hope to reach around 2030".

March - Back to Europe!

September - After Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso!

The family was granted, by the authorities, 72 hours to cross Nigeria. As you can imagine the journey was chaotic. An exhausting trip, on complicated roads closely watched by the authorities. They saw practically nothing of Nigeria. They made their way to Benin then on to Togo, before heading to Burkina Faso.

News 2018

End of August - September - Direction Nigeria!

After a number of setbacks, they've got the necessary visa to enter Nigeria and leave Cameroon!

August - Stuck in Cameroon!

Our friends are still in Cameroon and they are having a problem finding a solution so that they can continue their journey. Their visa applications to cross Nigeria have been refused twice!

The situation is complicated because:

  • The western route via Nigeria is closed.
  • The northern route, Chad and Niger is also impossible because of the Boko Haram.
  • The eastern route, the Central African Republic and South Sudan are also discouraged at the moment.
  • The southern route means retracing their steps, with the difficulty of obtaining the visa for the DR of Congo and there’s the problem of the Ebola virus.

What to do?

In a matter of days they will be considered illegal residents in Cameroon even though they have been trying to leave.

They are considering a sea transfer, and are currently waiting for quotes to see if it’s a solution.

It’s a complicated situation! We hope that they find a solution as soon as possible so that they can continue their great adventure!
