The wheel cylinder is a hydraulic device that converts the pressure of brake fluid into mechanical movement of the brake shoes.
It includes a bleed screw and is a key component of drum brakes, located inside the drum between the two brake shoes.
When should you replace a wheel cylinder?
You should replace or refurbish a wheel cylinder when changing the rear brake kit, or if you notice brake fluid traces at a drum. This usually indicates that the seals have worn out due to age or degraded brake fluid quality.
However, you can refurbish it by replacing the internal components with our repair kits.
