Description

The constant velocity joint (CV joint) is a wear item that should be replaced as soon as the first symptoms appear. If your 4x4 is equipped with a rigid front axle and emits a cracking noise when you turn the wheel fully (in 4x4 mode for engageable front axles), it is likely that a CV joint is worn out.

There are several causes that can lead to the destruction of a CV joint:

  • Water that has entered the front hub and caused the balls to rust and block the system
  • Forcing in sand or mud with the wheels fully turned, the forces are too great and the CV joint cage gives way and is destroyed, immobilizing the 4x4.
