Description

The constant velocity joint (CV joint) is a wear item that should be replaced as soon as the first symptoms appear. If your 4x4 is equipped with a rigid front axle and emits a cracking noise when you turn the wheel fully (in 4x4 mode for engageable front axles), it is likely that a CV joint is worn out.

There are several causes that can lead to the destruction of a CV joint:

Water that has entered the front hub and caused the balls to rust and block the system
Forcing in sand or mud with the wheels fully turned, the forces are too great and the CV joint cage gives way and is destroyed, immobilizing the 4x4.
