4x4 Travel - Le monde pour passager
Marc Mellet & Jeanne-Sarah Savart

"Fortunately, there are still voyages that dont go as planned." is the motto of Marc Mellet and Jeanne- Sarah Savart, two obstinate travellers.

For ten years we’ve been supporting Mark’s somewhat crazy projects.  Even though his first solo attempt to rally Kamchatka wasn’t sussessful, this hasn’t discouraged him, quite the contrary. Enriched by this first experience in extreme conditions, he set off on a new journey, met Jeanne- Sarah, and now the two of them are heading off to -45 ° C conditions in Far East Russian!

Let’s meet them?

Marc Mellet

is 41 and defines himself more as an eternal traveller than an independent photographer, his profession. Whether its pirate fishing in Kerguelen, tourism in Antarctica, crossing the Andes on horseback or off-roading in the Sahara, his reports have led him for the last ten years all over the world.

Jeanne-Sarah Savart

is 35 and worked in marketing and communication. At 32 she caught the travel bug after suffering a burnout at work. For two years she travelled and wrote monthly articles on tourism and adventure for a 4x4 magazine.

Latest news

Their heads are full of projects: travel, books, films and work is already underway on the version 5 of Isbamobile.

Don’t hesitate to contact them and have a look at their website. You can meet them easily, as they are present at the majority of the 4X4 salons in France.

Isbamobile

Is the name of their Land Cruiser, a 1987 BJ75 that now has 520 000 kms on the clock.

For the last fifteen years Marc hasn’t stopped improving his vehicle. Isbamobile is dedicated to adventure travel with two objectives: independence and reliability. This is why we are proud to help him choose the best parts from our catalogue, enabling Marc and now Jeanne-Sarah to pursue their dreams and share with us, their and our passion for 4x4 adventure.

Books

The last two long journeys have produced two books. Both of which advocate long distance travel. We strongly advise you to read them; they will make you want to get behind the wheel!

Davaï Kamtchatka

Important figures

  • A two-year journey made between 2012 and 2014.
  • 70,000 kilometres

The project

A burnout is the starting point of this adventure, nothing unusual about that, who hasnt dreamed of leaving everything behind?

However, what they decided to do is not what your average person would choose to do. Travelling to Kamchatka in the winter, is this reasonable?

Jeanne-Sarah Savart and Marc Mellet planned to go for a year and came back two years latter. They were aboard their old 4x4, nicknamed Isbamobile. They travelled 70 000 kms through Central Asia and Russia, heading for Kamchatka. A place you dream of, that was in fact a pretext for discovering new places and people and surpassing themselves. More than a trip, it's a breath of fresh air that comes straight from Far East Russian.

Here's the video interview of their last journey.

The Route

This book traces initiatory journey of Jeanne-Sarah. An anti-hero on the edge of a nervous breakdown that accomplishes an extraordinary journey and discovers she has the soul of an adventurer.

A two-year odyssey during which the adventures follow one after another. A vibrant and funny story that makes you want to travel. The history of an extreme journey, a therapy and a metamorphosis. A stunning testimony!

The project

Marc Mellet decided one day to travel by car to Eastern Siberia, to the place at the end of the world known for its crabs: Kamchatka.

To start off with he travels alone aboard his old Land Cruiser, called Isbamobile, Marc quickly picks up along the way passengers that became the actors of his project. He shares with them, for the time they are together, their experiences and sees the journey through their eyes.

From the heat of the Lut Desert in Iran to the immaculate expanses of snow in Russia, Marc enjoys the diversity of the 50 000 km he covers: Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Mongolia, to the heart of Russia and the farthest place you can go on the Eurasian continent before taking the boat. Soon, the way of travelling overrides the initial project: "All that matters is the way ..."
