4x4 Travel - Next Meridian Expedition

The fun continues, in 4x4!

Here's part 3 of the Next Meridian Expedition!

Nick and Mathilde are having the time of their lives on a round-the-world trip in 3 years, covering every continent in their Land Rover Defender 110, Albatross!

They’ve been travelling since July 2021, they started in the Faroe Islands, then travelled through northern Europe before setting off for America in June 2022.

We followed their magnificent journey from Canada to Patagonia. A year and a half of discoveries, sharing, adventures and magnificent encounters with locals and other 4x4 travellers!

Now it’s Australia for some more great adventures!

2024

Nick and Mathilde landed in Perth on the 1st of April. While their Defender was going through customs, they travelled to the southwest coast, Perth to Esperance in an Amarok 4x4.

Their vehicle

Their Land Rover Defender 110 is called Albatross (Albo) because an albatross can fly 100,000 km a year, and that's exactly what they intend to do!

It's a sturdy vehicle, that was fitted with a brand-new engine before they left.  They bought it in 2020, it had been in Europe for 7 years and before that 1 year in America. It had travelled through Europe,  Morocco, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and America.

It is a Land Rover Defender, TD4 2.2L Turbo Diesel Puma, 2012 model with an Ex-Tec interior and pop-up roof, BFG 16" tyres, VisionX lighting, T-Max winch, Engel fridge, Coleman stove and tons of custom-made furniture and utility parts.

The couple extensively modified and fitted out the vehicle, particularly the interior to make it as comfortable as possible. They also installed a roof tent for added safety.
